L.A. Shorts Fest: The festival is long on comedy, drama, science fiction and animation, as well as panel discussions with filmmakers and celebrities. It’s been in full swing since Sept. 5 and is set to close this weekend. (So much for brevity!) As Robert Abele described it in The Times last year, “Those with treasure-seeker mentalities may view it as a hunt for potential Academy Award short film honorees, because the L.A. Shorts Fest has a solid record of screening eventual nominees.”
Screenings end Sunday at AMC Burbank Town Center 6, 770 N. 1st St., Burbank. Award ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, at CineSpace, 6356 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood. (323) 461-4400, www.lashortsfest.com.
