Re “L.A. schools chief convenes summit,” Sept. 20
The Los Angeles Unified School District is in serious trouble. Perseverance will only take the district so far. We have persevered long enough. The time for lip service is over, and change is in order.
The district needs to fire people (yes, fire) if a job is not being done right. People (yes, parents, that’s you) need to send their children to school ready to learn and behave.
Parents need to learn English (sorry everyone -- it’s true) in order to help with homework and simply to understand what is going on at the school.
We need to quit squabbling and dig in the trenches -- 2008 is too far away.
