3Com Corp., a maker of computer-networking equipment, agreed to a $2.2-billion takeover by Bain Capital and a former joint-venture partner in a move that would help 3Com further shift its focus to China.
Boston-based Bain offered $5.30 a share, 44% more than Thursday’s closing price. China-based Huawei Technologies Co., which until this year shared a joint venture with 3Com, would take a minority stake.
3Com shares rose 34% after the announcement.
