Re “The true school scandal,” Opinion, Nov. 25
I attend Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where I feel safe and receive a good education. However, my school and many others throughout California are woefully underfunded. Certainly, as Jonah Goldberg says, part of this is because of misallocation of budget funds, but higher taxes are also needed.
During the presidential campaign, there was much talk about how higher taxes would punish entrepreneurs like “Joe the Plumber.” My generation will be hard-pressed to find any jobs, much less ones that pay $250,000 a year, if we do not have access to a high-quality education.
