A 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound Monday morning shortly after he reportedly hopped a fence to leave Woodrow Wilson High School in El Sereno, police and school district officials said.
The boy, whose name was not released, told Los Angeles Unified School District police that he was confronted and shot by unidentified men as he left campus.
He said the assailants fled and he went back inside the school to seek help.
He was in stable condition and recovering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen at a hospital Monday night.
The Los Angeles Police Department was looking into the possibility that the boy may have had a gun that discharged and wounded him, a police spokeswoman said.
No arrests have been made.
Wilson High is a campus of about 2,500 students in El Sereno, on Los Angeles’ Eastside.
