Re “DWP chief wants his new advisor to keep state job too,” June 7
So DWP General Manager H. David Nahai wants his new hire, Cindy Montanez, to keep her post as a member of the state’s Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, at $130,000 in annual salary. He says the post should not distract her because it is only a one-day-a-month engagement.
One day a month makes her $130,000? Just how many appointees are working for us at these wages at a time the state is facing a financial crisis? Please don’t tell me that either of Montanez’s jobs includes a company car and gasoline credit card.
Politicians who use the appointment process as a political tool to entrench themselves must giggle under their breath when they speak publicly of the sacrifices that citizens must make because of the financial crisis.
