Re “Californians slimly reject gay marriage,” May 23
The headline states, “Californians slimly reject gay marriage.” The actual poll reports that a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage is supported by registered voters, 54% to 35%, and by all respondents, 51% to 36%. In retrospect, your headline a few weeks ago should have reported that Hillary Clinton “slimly” defeated Barack Obama in West Virginia (67% to 26%) and, more recently, that white voters in Kentucky “slimly” favored Clinton (72% to 22%), while African American voters “slimly” favored Obama (87% to 7%).
If you are to be Orwellian, you may as well be consistent.
