Down the toilet

The article on the movie “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” [“Dude, High Five!,” by Chris Lee, Oct. 30] includes director Kevin Smith telling us that last week “I broke a toilet . . . my size took the toilet down,” his film is a “blue streak of swear words, splattery toilet humor and gymnastic copulation scenes,” plus star Seth Rogen likes “people having really frank conversations about porno” in movies.
Imagine such comments from Billy Wilder regarding his classic “Some Like It Hot” comedy!
Yes, times and film “taste” do change, but I suggest that the Smiths, Rogens and Apatows of Hollywood -- with their adolescent, in-your-face obsession with sex, crude crotch “humor” and endless one-syllable profanity -- are destroying much more than toilets.
I also suspect that Billy isn’t turning over in his grave: He’s crying.
