A 14-year-old Southern California boy was convicted of killing his 8-year-old cousin as he was trying to shoot another boy in a gang retaliation.
Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Ryan Dibble said Judge Charles R. Scarlett on Friday found true one count of murder with use of a firearm causing death, and a count of attempted murder with discharge of a firearm.
The teenager has not been identified because he’s a juvenile. The victim, Jasmine Sanders, was shot July 23 as she was playing outside a South L.A. apartment building with her brother and other children. The judge scheduled a disposition hearing for the boy on Thursday.
