Democratic political operative Stephanie Cutter will guide the effort to confirm President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee to replace retiring Justice David H. Souter, sources told the Associated Press.
An advisor to Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, Cutter is expected to coordinate the announcement and confirmation hearings.
Republicans are keeping all paths open. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky told “Fox News Sunday” that he would not rule out a filibuster over the nominee.
