CITY SECTION PREVIEW
Today at 2 p.m. at Birmingham.
Why it matters: The City Section track-and-field prelims will feature many football players showing off their speed. In the 100 and 200, sophomore DeAnthony Thomas of Crenshaw is the favorite. But he’ll have lots of competition from D.J. Morgan of Woodland Hills Taft, DeShawn Beck of Los Angeles Jordan and Tevin Carter of Santee. The USC-bound Morgan is the dominant figure in the hurdle races. Pablo Rosales of San Pedro is the athlete to beat in the distance events. Basketball player Moriah Johnson of Crenshaw is the leading qualifier in the high jump. The finals are scheduled for May 28 at Birmingham.

Records: Narbonne 22-9; Poly 21-14.
