Cincinnati beats Angels, 6-0

Cincinnati 6, Angels 0

AT THE PLATE: Five Reds pitchers, including starter Mike Lincoln and reliever Arthur Rhodes, limited the Angels to three hits, singles by Brandon Wood, Mike Napoli and Mark Trumbo.

ON THE MOUND: Top prospect Trevor Reckling was shaky. The left-hander allowed one run and two hits, walked three, hit a batter and threw two wild pitches in two innings. Sean O’Sullivan, who was roughed up for five runs and four hits, including two homers, in his first spring start, fared much better Wednesday, throwing three scoreless, one-hit innings.

EXTRA BASES: Left-hander Scott Kazmir, slowed this spring by a sore hamstring, threw a two-inning, 31-pitch simulated game Wednesday and will make his first exhibition start Monday against the Dodgers. “He threw great,” Manager Mike Scioscia said of Kazmir. “It was a really good workout. He was impressive.”

UP NEXT: Jered Weaver will make the trip to Tucson for Thursday’s noon (PST) game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
