Gold rush: iPhone 5s sells for $10,000, gold Samsung Galaxy S 4 coming

There’s a rush for golden smartphones, and Apple and Samsung are scrambling to meet the demand.
Apple’s gold-colored iPhone 5s, which went on sale Friday in the U.S., quickly sold out at most locations. It’s in such high demand that buyers who got them are going online to sell them at huge profits.

There are numerous gold iPhone 5s units available for purchase on Craigslist and Ebay with listed prices of more than $1,000. Earlier this week, one of those phones was purchased on Ebay for more than $10,000.
And it seems Samsung wants to get in on the craze.
The South Korean tech giant posted images of golden Galaxy S 4 devices on social media sites earlier this week. The images can be seen on the company’s @SamsungMobileArabia Twitter account as well as the Samsung Gulf Facebook account, both of which are verified.
It’s unclear when these gold Samsung devices could launch or if they might be limited to a Middle East release, but it’s noteworthy to see Samsung follow Apple so soon after the launch of the iPhone 5s.
