More theater, music and dance announced for new Annenberg Center

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, which will finally open its long-awaited doors for a gala celebration in October, has announced additional programs for its inaugural season.
As previously announced, the 2.5-acre, two-theater arts complex in Beverly Hills will debut with the Martha Graham Dance Company in November, followed by a new production of the play “Parfumerie,” as well as Ricky Ian Gordon’s opera, “A Coffin in Egypt,” among other programming.
On Thursday, the Annenberg Center announced additions to its lineup -- more dance, theater music. Coming up: Ballet Jazz de Montreal in January 2014, a tap performance by Broadway legend Maurice Hines in May, as well as concerts by pianists Rueibin Chen and Ramin Bahrami in the spring.

Tony Award-winner Christine Ebersole and Obie Award-winner Edward Hibbert will also appear in “Love, Noël: The Letters and Songs of Noël Coward” in February.
The center, adapted from the 1933 Beverly Hills Post Office building, will house a 500-seat, state-of-the-art theater for performances. It also will collaborate with Sundance Institute Film Music Program on “ComposersLab LA On Stage,” exploring the creative process of a film composer.
The center is named for Wallis Annenberg, the Los Angeles philanthropist who made two gifts to the organization totaling $25 million.
Subscription tickets go on sale Oct. 1.
