Singer Bobby Brown issued a statement Sunday confirming the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina Houston Brown, his daughter with the late vocal star Whitney Houston, after she was found unresponsive Saturday morning in a bathtub at her Georgia home.
“The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate,” read a statement from Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen, the legal counsel for the R&B artist. “No additional information will be forthcoming.”
The 21-year-old daughter of the two famed singers was discovered in the bathtub by her husband, Nick Gordon, and a friend at about 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Lisa Holland, spokeswoman for the Roswell Police Department, told the Los Angeles Times.
She was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, a suburb of Atlanta. Hospital officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
“Privacy is requested in this matter,” Bobby Brown said in the statement. “Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time.”
Bobbi Kristina, Houston’s only child, was 18 when her mother died at age 48 on the eve of the 2011 Grammy Awards. Houston was found unresponsive in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Staff writers Samantha Masunaga and Tre’vell Anderson contributed to this report.
