‘Insurgent’ trailer: Shailene Woodley makes a death-defying leap
- Share via
The first trailer for “Insurgent” has arrived, and the nightmarish video finds franchise star Shailene Woodley making a terrifying leap — not of faith but of necessity.
The minutelong teaser for the sequel to “Divergent” opens with Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Woodley) sporting black threads and a pixie cut against a smoldering urban skyline. She turns to find her mother (Ashley Judd) in a precarious — and surreal — position, surrounded by flames and trapped in an airborne concrete box.
With no time to waste, Tris springs into action. Watch the clip above to see what happens next.
Set for release March 20, “Insurgent” marks the second installment in Summit Entertainment’s burgeoning “Divergent” franchise, based on Veronica Roth’s young-adult book series about a dystopian society where people are divided into factions based on their personality types.
The eponymous first film was released in March and grossed $288.7 million at the worldwide box office.
Robert Schwentke is directing “Insurgent,” which also stars Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort.
The two-part finale will consist of “Allegiant — Part 1,” set for release March 18, 2016, and “Allegiant — Part 2,” due March 24, 2017.
