Jay-Z’s video for the “Holy Grail” track from his “Magna Carta Holy Grail” album has now made it to YouTube following its 24-hour exclusive premiere on Facebook, a move that’s heightened Facebook’s profile as a platform for new video content from musicians.
Using Facebook, rather than YouTube or Vevo for Thursday’s rollout of the “Holy Grail” video, which was directed by Anthony Mandler and features Justin Timberlake during his chunks of the song, “will really allow him to go direct to a massive and instant global audience,” Facebook’s head of content partnerships Nick Grudin told Billboard.

“It’s something that only Facebook, I think, can really deliver in this way, given the scale of the audiences musicians have and the global nature of those audiences and the social dynamics of what happens when they engage on Facebook,” Grudin said.
Jay-Z has more than 17 million Facebook followers, while Timberlake’s following numbers nearly 26 million.
Here’s Jay-Z’s Facebook page, and here’s the video itself now that it’s available through the standard music video platforms.
