Jon Favreau, Roy Choi return to Animal for another El Jefe pop-up

If you missed the El Jefe pop-up at Pot restaurant last year, and the one at Animal, here’s your chance to get a taste of El Jefe, the Cuban food truck from the movie “Chef.” Another El Jefe pop-up dinner will take place at Animal restaurant Wednesday.
Jon Favreau, who starred in and directed the film, will join Roy Choi, who acted as a food consultant on the film, and Animal chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo for a special menu. All four are expected to be cooking in the kitchen.
At the last El Jefe pop-up, guests could purchase $9 Cubano sandwiches on the Animal patio, and order them at dinner. The chefs and movie star are remaining mum on the food details for this pop-up, but we’re anticipating muffulettas.
According to a flyer for the dinner, the pop-up will take place from 6 p.m. until the last mufuletta is gone.
Dinner is $75 per person. To make a reservation, call (323) 782-9225 after 2 p.m.
