Firefighters battled a brush fire Wednesday that spread to 62 acres in the Kagel Canyon area of Lake View Terrace.
The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. near 11700 Terra Vista Way, according to Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Some homes were threatened for a time, and residents of 20 homes were under a voluntary evacuation, Scott said. But water-dropping aircraft were aggressive battling the flames and preventing any homes from being damaged.
After 500 personnel battled the blaze over two hours, the fire was knocked down and 95% contained, Scott said.
Firefighters were expected to remain at the burn area overnight, Scott said.
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that extends until late Thursday, warning that strong winds and soaring temperatures increase the risk of wildfires.
