Detention: A March 18 editorial about immigration detention rules said that Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) objects to providing detainees access to abortions in case of rape or if the woman’s life is in danger. He does not. His objection is to the expansion of services for detainees, which he is concerned might include taxpayer-funded transportation and counseling in connection with elective abortions.
