Net neutrality is a must for modern civilization
- Share via
To the editor: The giant telecommunications industry, when responding negatively to the call for Internet neutrality, has resorted to the tired appeal that “it will hurt jobs.” (“Obama strongly endorses tough net neutrality rules,” Nov. 10)
The sincerity of that claim is doubtful. It is more likely that the true priority of the industry is profit, expansion and power, not maximum benefit to the workers or the people who use the technology.
The Internet has become the most powerful tool for the advancement of civilization and the expansion of the communication network between ideas and people. As such, it is way too important to the well-being of civilization to allow the telecoms the ability to bend it away from the people for their own purposes.
