Grady piles up yardage

Tommy Grady wanted to win this one for all the seniors.
It was Thursday, Nov. 14, when Edison High took on Los Alamitos in
the Sunset League regular season finale for both schools. The senior
quarterback and the Chargers did just about everything they needed to
do to win the game, out-gaining the Griffins in the process.
But turnovers plagued Edison, and those miscues proved costly in a
45-26 loss.
Grady, though, came up with another big game, throwing for 306
yards and two touch- downs. It marked the second time this season
that the Indepen- dent’s Player of the Week had surpassed 300 yards
passing in a single game, second only to the 361 he accumulated in an
Oct. 4 game against Mater Dei.
“Tommy had a real nice game, but we just had too many turnovers,”
Edison coach Dave White said.
Grady, the holder of numerous Edison passing records, threw
touchdown passes to his favorite targets that night, Nate Mitani and
Matt White.
Mitani led Edison in receiving with 131 yards on 10 receptions,
and White, last week’s Independent Player of the Week, had nine
receptions totaling 121 yards.
