LOS ANGELES — Sophomore Brandon Johnson scored with two seconds left to lift the UC Irvine men’s water polo team to a 10-9 victory over Long Beach State in the ninth-place game of the SoCal Tournament Sunday at Loyola Marymount’s Burns Aquatics Center.

It was the second victory of the day and third straight win for the No. 8-ranked Anteaters (5-7), who return to action Wednesday in a nonconference game against visiting Cal Baptist.

Johnson and junior Greg Enloe scored three goals apiece for the winners.

Senior Jesse Hatch scored with 6:18 remaining to give the ’Eaters a 9-6 lead before the 49ers scored three straight to erase the deficit, the equalizer coming with 46 seconds left in the game.
