Baseball: Easton Lucas has three no-hitters and studies at home

Did you know you can enroll in an independent study program, never attend class on campus and still play for a high school team?
Easton Lucas, a 6-foot-3 left-handed pitcher with three no-hitters, is doing just that for Simi Valley Grace Brethren.
Lucas is the oldest of seven children, all of whom are being home-schooled. His parents believe it’s a great option to learn as a family. Lucas is enrolled in an independent study program through Grace Brethren.
Lucas scored a 29 on the ACT and has signed with Pepperdine. He has played for Grace Brethren for four years. He enjoys being a good example for his brothers and sisters. And he likes home schooling.
“It gives me a ton of free time,” he said.
His three no-hitters are the most since Luke Eubank threw three for Newbury Park in 2012. He has given up nine hits in 48 innings with 77 strikeouts and 15 walks. He’s 7-1.
His fastball is in the upper 80s mph, and he projects as someone who should be very effective as he gains strength and velocity in the coming years.
