Boys’ basketball: Big games for Tyler Dorsey, Matt Hauser, Alex Copeland, Mike Alvarez

It was a Friday night of big offensive performances from Tyler Dorsey of Maranatha, Matt Hauser of Thousand Oaks, Alex Copeland of Harvard-Westlake and Mike Alvarez of Oak Park.
Dorsey scored 44 points in Maranatha’s 93-91 win over Bell-Jeff in the Huntington Park tournament. Hauser scored 40 points in Thousand Oaks’ 59-52 win over Thousand Oaks. Copeland scored 40 points in Harvard-Westlake’s 86-75 Mission League loss to Alemany. Alvarez had 42 points in Oak Park’s 84-64 win over Royal.
In other Mission League games, Michael Oguine had 33 points in Chaminade’s 68-55 win over St. Francis. Max Hazzard had 24 points to help Loyola rally for a 61-53 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita (10-1) knocked off St. John Bosco, 47-45, on a layup at the buzzer by Kaden Rasheed, a transfer from Mission Viejo who became eligible on Monday. He finished with 17 points. Orange Lutheran defeated Servite, 65-55, despite 30 points from Trevor Treinen. Mater Dei defeated JSerra, 68-41. Rex Pflueger had 23 points.
Austin Butler had 14 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists in Buckley’s 65-35 win over Ribet.
Westlake defeated Agoura, 74-47, in a Marmonte League opener. Isaiah Brooks scored 22 points. Newbury Park defeated Oaks Christian, 57-51.
In the Gold Coast League, Crossroads upset Brentwood, 54-47.
La Mirada defeated Brea, 60-50. San Marino defeated Pasadena Poly, 55-38. In the Moore League, Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Millikan, 81-69.
In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Crescenta Valley, 73-53. Steven Hubbell had 14 points.
