Flintridge Prep announces switch to eight-man football

In a sign of the times, Flintridge Prep announced Monday that it is switching from 11-man football back to eight-man football.
Flintridge Prep had previous success in eight-man football.
“We made the decision after a careful analysis of our rosters, injuries and team results over the last several years,” Headmaster Peter Bachmann said in a statement. “We also forecasted what future rosters would look like. This was the best decision for our school and for team morale. Scheduling has begun with peer schools that are about our size.”
Flintridge Prep is also seeking a head coach after the retirement of Glen Beattie.
Flintridge Prep might not be alone in switching to eight-man football. Several 11-man teams had to end their 11-man seasons prematurely this season because of dwindling rosters from injuries.
