Football: At Edison, there’s another White playing wide receiver

The third and final son of Huntington Beach Edison Coach Dave White, in his 29th season as head coach, is ready to make an impact at wide receiver.
Garrett White is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior. His older brothers, Matt and Hunter, also played receiver at Edison. So how come all the White brothers play receiver?
“Because they realize how crazy I am around our quarterbacks,” the elder White said. “I was a quarterback.”
Garrett White has a 4.1 grade-point average and also plays volleyball and basketball.
“Dad loves his GPA,” Dave White said. “Maybe he can go to an Ivy League school.”
Edison opens its season on Aug. 23 in Hawaii. That’s a Saturday. The team doesn’t return home until Monday, Aug. 25. That means Sunday is a day for hanging out at the beach for the players from Huntington Beach.
“They have to have a surf day,” White said.
