Football: Future looks bright with top freshmen at Mater Dei, Oaks Christian
- Share via
Santa Ana Mater Dei and Westlake Village Oaks Christian each had 10-0 freshman football teams this season. If only they could face off . . .
“We’ll play it on Sunday in the parking lot,” Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson said.
Both schools also had top freshmen on varsity. Mater Dei’s starting quarterback was J.T. Daniels. Oaks Christian has an outstanding freshman defensive lineman in Reese Silofau.
But if you want names to remember from the freshman team, here’s some to pay attention to.
Mater Dei lineman Jalen Lockett is the younger brother of USC defensive back Jonathan Lockett. Receiver Bru McCoy, free safety Tius Tolar and running back Glen Harper all should be future varsity standouts.
For Oaks Christian, beware of running back-defensive back Zach Charbonet, fullback Jackson Sterling receiver-linebacker Pete Tello and quarterback Josh Calvert.
