Girls’ volleyball: St. Genevieve opens with win over Santa Paula

Jasmine Elkess and Arielle Mercado each had nine kills to help St. Genevieve defeat Santa Paula, 25-22, 25-20, 19-25, 25-14, in a first-round match of the Southern Section Division 4A girls’ volleyball playoffs.
St. Genevieve won the Santa Fe League championship.
Sophomore Alexis Orellano added 17 digs.
