Clippers’ three-point defense to be tested by Warriors, Blazers

The Clippers have improved all phases of their defense over the last few weeks.
They have really gotten better at defending the three-pointer, holding their opponents to an NBA-low 32% shooting.
But the Clippers will have their three-point shooting defense tested in their next two games.
The Clippers will face a Golden State Warriors team tonight that makes 40.3% of its threes, second best in the league.
The Clippers will face a Portland Trail Blazers team Thursday night that makes 40.5% of its threes, tops in the league.
“You just make them difficult,” said Clippers Coach Doc Rivers. “If you make it a difficult shot, then you’ve done your job. But what we can’t give them is the wide-open look, the dribble penetration and the kick-out ones, where we can avoid.
“Sometimes it’s not as simple as taking away the three. You got to do the other stuff that allows you to take away the three. If guys are in the paint all night, you’re going to give up a three because you’re in help. If you keep yourself out of help, then you keep yourself on the three-point line. So it’s all kind of connected.”
