Warriors’ Klay Thompson officially diagnosed with a concussion

It turns out Klay Thompson had a concussion after all.
The Warriors guard was diagnosed Friday after undergoing further neurological testing, according to the Associated Press.
Thompson will not be able to return to practice with his team until he has cleared the NBA’s concussion protocol.
The Warriors are scheduled to open Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers at home on Thursday, giving Thompson nearly a full week of rest.
“This break has turned out to be good for us,” Warriors Coach Steve Kerr said. “And maybe good for Cleveland, too, because they’ve got some injuries. It’s just something we’ve got to work through and we’ll see how it goes.”
Thompson was injured when Houston forward Trevor Ariza’s knee connected with his right temple during Golden State’s 104-94 series-clinching victory over the Rockets in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals.
He was taken out of the game and evaluated for a concussion on site, but was allowed to return to the bench because he was not displaying concussion-like symptoms. He did not reenter the game.
Thompson averaged 21.7 points per game while shooting 43.9% from behind the arc -- both career highs -- and was named an NBA All-Star.
