2016 recruit Connor Murphy prepares for slumber party with Jim Harbaugh

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh has planned a sleepover at 2016 recruit Connor Murphy’s house on Tuesday.

The only issue is that Murphy, an elite defensive end from Brophy Preparatory in Phoenix, doesn’t know where his family is going to put Harbaugh.

“To be honest, I’m not sure where he is going to sleep yet,” Murphy said Tuesday morning, chuckling. “It should be fun.”

The Murphy family is no stranger to memorable visits from Harbaugh.

Eight years ago, when Harbaugh was coach at Stanford, he recruited Connor’s brother, Trent, to the Farm.

When Harbaugh made an in-home visit, Murphy’s mother thought she was in labor with her daughter. Harbaugh was put on babysitter duty while Murphy’s father rushed mom to the hospital.

“Coach Harbaugh sat on my living room floor with me and we drank milk and played chess,” Connor Murphy recalled, saying he was 11 or 12 years old at the time.

Harbaugh won the chess match, and Murphy’s parents returned later that night after a labor false alarm.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound Murphy made an official visit to USC last weekend and visited Oregon this fall.

This weekend he will get another dose of Harbaugh when he makes an official visit to Michigan.

He will end the month with a trip to Alabama.

Murphy is set to make a signing-day commitment Feb. 3. He will chose among Alabama, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon and USC.
